ALO M. TRUSZ

CHARACTER ANIMATOR | FILM DIRECTOR | 3D/CG ARTIST

LANDSCAPE PAINTER

My earliest life was filled with post communistic influences of Minsk in Belarus.

I had a chance to experience the wonders of playgrounds filled with greenery, weird constructions to play at, eat the best ice-cream with penguin on it (rus.‘’пингвин мороженое пломбир 28 копеек эскимо’’) as well as watch endless amount of soviet animated films! My most favourite were ‘’Gena the Crocodile’’ (rus.‘’Крокодил Гена’’) and ‘’Little Gray Neck’’ (rus.‘’Серая шейка’’)

After a few years we moved to a small town - Olkusz in Poland, where at the nursery, I have tried to convince children to speak Russian by gifting them drawings of quite handsome cats.

Later as I battled through 6 years of Music School in the class of Piano I realised that, as cool as music is, I like to draw more. Four years later I got admitted to the State High School of Fine Arts in Kraków, where I have learned about drawing, painting, sculpturing, ceramics, photography and graphic design.

After graduation I decided that like my great grandfather I will become a painter and so I committed myself to landscape painting but it seemed like it still wasn’t it. Then one day a friend proposed to watch this awesome animated feature ‘’Tekkonkinkreet’’ and there it was, the great realisation - the need to make animated films!

I moved to Nottingham in the UK to study Animation at Nottingham Trent University where I grasped the first knowledge and idea on how everything is made. After 3 years spent there I decided to continue my education at Ecole MoPA in Arles, France. Where I have learned more thoroughly about how the industry works, how all of the high end stuff is made, how great it is to work in a team of talented people who really want to achieve something great and who push each other to do better every time and of course I improved my animation skills!

Today my artistic approach is influenced by a mishmash of soviet cartoons, animation classics, paintings, directors like Wes Anderson, Alberto Mielgo, Lars von trier, Wong Kar Wai, Andrey Tarkovsky and many other things too hard to fit in here.

I co-directed many short films which visited festivals around the globe!
